Persons wishing to take up Underwater Hockey, with BOA and our clubs, must complete the a medical condition (during the online registration process) to ensure their suitability to participate, for additional information please email: medical@gbuwh.co.uk
Pregnancy - Due to gas levels with breath-holding on a regular basis, and the risk of injury means even in the first trimester there is a risk to foetal development or miscarriage, so the guidance is to refrain if found to be pregnant.
The BOA’s Welfare Officer, in conjunction with the specialist Medical Referee, reserves the right to insist that an applicant undertakes a full medical examination by a medical practitioner, if anything about the applicant's medical history declared gives them cause for concern
If the applicant is under 18 years of age, the declaration must be completed by a parent/guardian, who is aware of the person's health history.
DBS Checks - These are available at no cost to members who are involved in club committee roles, coaching and refereeing activities, please email welfare@gbuwh.co.uk and request a form. As DBS certifictes are a legal document they are provided as a hard copy. The BOA will accept a scan/image, including certificates from an employer or other volunteer role as long as it is dated within the last three years, please send to welfare@gbuwh.co.uk
Update Service, this allows organisations such as the BOA to check the status of your DBS via a government portal. Once you received your DBS certificate, visit https://secure.crbonline.gov.uk/crsc/apply?execution=e4s2 you have 28 days to apply and there is no cost to volunteers.
